Director Gaspar Noe rejected the idea on Thursday that his ultra-graphic 3D sex film "Love" was controversial at the Cannes Film Festival, saying it was ridiculous to ignore a subject that "everyone loves".
"I have friends who love money, some who love coke, some who love cinema, but the common point is that everyone loves having sex," the Paris-based director said at a press conference.
"So why is it so poorly represented in cinema? It's to do with commercial and legal pressures," he added.
Noe's latest film was the hot ticket on the French Riviera, with hundreds trying to squeeze their way into the midnight screening on Wednesday night.

Teachers and medical professionals are doing just that.
Gotta teach pre-K kids about homosexual lifestyles, our president supports this.
A dog named SEX
Everybody who has a dog calls him “Rover” or “Boy”. I call my dog “Sex”.
Now, Sex has been very embarrassing to me. When I went to get his license, I told the clerk I would like to have a license for Sex. He said, “Id like to have one too.” Then I said, “But this is a dog.” He said I didn’t care what she looked like. Then I said, “You don’t understand, Ive had Sex since I was 9 years old.” He said I must have been quite a kid.
When I got married and went on my honeymoon, I took the dog with me. I told the hotel clerk that I wanted a room for my wife and me and a special room for Sex. He said that every room in the place was for sex. I said, “You don’t understand, Sex keeps me awake at night.” The Clerk said “Me too.”
One day I entered Sex in a contest but before the competition began, the dog ran away. Another contestant asked me why I was just standing there looking around. I told him I had planned to have Sex entered in the contest. He told me that I should have sold tickets. “But you don’t understand”, I said, “I had hoped to have Sex on television.” He called me a show-off.
When my wife and I separated, we went to court to file for custody of the dog. I said, “Your Honor, I had Sex before I got married.” The judge said “Me too.” Then I told him that after I was married, Sex had left me. He said, “Me too.”
Last night Sex ran off again. I spent hours looking around town for him. A cop came over to me and asked “What are you doing in this alley at 4 in the morning?” I said, “Im looking for Sex...”
My court date has been set for Friday...
The thing to check for is the size of the doc's fingers. The thinner-smaller, the better.
I call my Border Collie Sir : )
And you think it's perfectly fine to show the result to a kid?
Sex depicted in a movie is not a stunt, it's sex. Falling down a flight of stairs isn't a facet of a human being. Sex occupies a place in the human psyche as well as being the means by which humans reproduce. Trivializing it has through history led to more human pain and suffering and death than probably damn near anything you can mention. That aside; I don't know what violence you were immersed in as a kid but the violence I saw approved of was in service of high principle and done in spite of the risk of death. If you're talking about the GRATUITOUS VIOLENCE prevalent today THAT is just a vector, like gratuitous sex that has been used by the enemies of our once great culture to destroy it. Your use of the words sex and violence without any moral focus or context is a symptom of the disease that is ravaging our culture today.
high tech
in 3 D no less
here’s the money shot coming at ya...
pass the popcorn please
the movie was described as “like bad sex, it never ends, there is no climax, just goes on and on”...
pathetic
If there is no sexual violence, I see absolutely nothing wrong with a kid watching adults make love. Everyone was created by it and most people will do it.
I think our huge obsession with hiding it is completely irrational and unhealthy.
Kids are guaranteed to find out about sex anyway (it’s not that complicated) and the human race is naturally rebellious against parents
“Why in the world would anyone want to show porn to kids? Unless they are trying to desensitize them.”
I’m not talking about violent or degrading porn. I’m talking about images of people naturally making love as was done since the beginning of mankind. Everyone’s parents did it and 99% of people will do it.
I think people should be completely exposed and desensitized to love and sexuality from day 1. Our obsession with hiding it is what causes all these distortions, homosexuality, bestiality and sex crimes (as we see in ALL sexually repressed cultures like Islam).
It is a natural part of life, essential for existence and cleaner than going to the toilet.
Celebrate and embrace physical love! Do not hide it!
The degeneracy started AFTER they started showing it in the movies and stuff.
Trying to connect “love” and animalistic, immoral sex ain’t gonna cut it.
“The degeneracy started AFTER they started showing it in the movies and stuff.”
Oh man. That’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard. People have been doing the same exact things since humans existed. Under every rule, nation and religion people will continue to have sex how they like.
Maybe it will be hidden to the public but people will ALWAYS do it in private and talk about it nonstop with their friends so there is NO containing it.
Way too much output Grace! :-)
Im a producer not a taker.
“Everyone was created by it and most people will do it.”
Utterly meaningless.
Everything you say is straight out of 1969. That would be just about the time that thing began going into the crapper. The childish mind isn’t going to be enhanced by exposure to sex. HISTORY since 1969 proves this.
