“If you want to get snippy about it, it has Spanish roots, not some dumbass eastern elitist snuff bag.”
Actually the slouch hat has its roots in Europe, then carried over to the east coast of the U.S.
“Im betting you are the recent product of out modern public education system.”
You lose.
Poofter...
If you look at the hat, there is nothing European about it. It has Spain written all over it from the stitching to the size and materials.
But I only posted the photo link in response to your idiot assertion that Jessie “did not wear a hat”.
It’s telling though......of your general disposition, education and personality.
Now here is Cole Younger with European inspired hat..

“Sombreros, like the cowboy hats invented later, were designed in response to the demands of the physical environment. The concept of a broad-brimmed hat worn by a rider on horseback can be seen as far back as the Mongolian horsemen of the 13th century.[2] In hot, sunny climates hats evolved to have wide brims, which provided shade. The Spanish developed a flat-topped sombrero, which they brought to Mexico. It was modified by the vaquero into the round-crowned Mexican sombrero and poblano.[3]”
