Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.) will skip the Iowa Straw Poll in 2016, he confirmed in an op-ed for The Des Moines Register in which he questions the relevancy of the poll that helped spur his 2008 bid
I have concluded this year's Iowa straw poll will serve only to weaken conservative candidates and further empower the Washington ruling class and their hand-picked candidates, he wrote.
It's clear that pitting conservative candidates with limited resources against each other in a non-binding and expensive summer straw poll battle, while allowing billionaire-backed establishment candidates to sit out, will only wound and weaken the conservative candidates who best represent conservative and hard-working Iowans.

Rush was pointing out the other day that some of these candidates need to run as resume enhancers to remain high on the speaker’s tours, the media commentary lists, and on the advertisement name recognition charts. And there is the law that permits them to keep campaign donations.
So, apparently it has become a cottage industry. I heard ole Fred Thompson selling reverse mortgages at least twice just yesterday.
I hope not too many evangelicals or socons take the bait. Like my anecdotal evidence suggests, I'd like it if he failed to catch fire in the slightest bit, not even a smolder.
Cottage industry? Yeah.
In WTF, I say that Huckabee’s decision in 2008 to stay in the whole way, even with ZERO chance of the nomination, was his “Fox News audition period.” Like Santorum, stayed in long enough to officially take “second place” - even though the only guy with a chance to beat McCain in 08 was Mitt - and the only guy with a chance to beat Mitt was Newt.
yes, Fred is selling reverse mortgages...but not as ex Senator and prez candidate IMO...as ex DA on Law and Order, movie star, etc.
But I’m betting ‘presidential candidate’ is on his resume. :>)
I think Santorum is doing the same thing. I liked Fred and Rick, but we shouldn’t be blind to what puts food on their tables. To Bachman’s, Palin’s, and Newt’s credit, they’re not doing the same. After all, if you’re gonna have 15 candidates, why not 20.
Think I’ll run if you two will be my election team. LOL.
And now, ladies and gentleman, let's give a big hand to ex presidential candidate Mike Huckabeeeeee!!!
We need to help each one of us to run.
Gravy train, here we come!
#gravytrain
:-)
HAH...I may consider being on your team, but you’re gonna have to renounce Rick S first...:D
Rick Santorum, I renounce thee, I renounce thee, I renounce thee.
(And Rove, too.)
LOL. I needed a good laugh......
LOL!
