I personally think this is something of a reach - that federal, state and local cops set up an ambush of anyone riding a bike at that location at that time.

But it's a sad comment on the state of affairs (trust issues) that many people would read this and nod their heads, thinking, "I can see that happening".

Occam's razor applies here, I think.

Yes, Occam’s Razor applies.

Various LEO groups learn of a “potentially violent biker meet-up”. Expecting trouble, they show up in force. Really expecting trouble, they’re watching for the first hint of trouble, shooting the first guy who apparently pulls a knife on another. Shots fired, everyone starts taking cover & drawing weapons (of any kind). Furtive movements everywhere, cops start shooting anyone armed and showing any hint of threatening anyone. Soon 9 are dead, dozens injured/incapacitated, and the rest are hiding - activity stops.

High-strung cops expecting a fight, prepared for one, found one and piled on.

Occam’s Razor applies.
