I Apologize for Yesterday's 3rd Hour
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | May 20, 2015 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, before we get going here today, I really, really need to offer you a sincere apology for the last hour of the program yesterday. I mean, it was an absolute bomb, and it was because for the first time in I don't know how many years, I abandoned totally my professionalism, and I allowed myself to be totally distracted by a bunch of stuff that was happening that had nothing to do with the program, off the air stuff.

I even alluded to it a couple of times during the program, but the bottom line is that I ended up being distracted, and I don't remember very much of the last hour of that program, and that means it wasn't very noteworthy if I don't remember it. You know, I do this every day, the only measure that I have of this program each day is, you know, when I say meeting and surpassing all audience expectations, I sincerely mean that. This program has always been for the audience. It's never been for the media. It has never been for buzz or PR or hype. It's always been for the audience.

I'm very empathetic in relating to you and imagining how you are hearing the program. And if you thought yesterday's last hour was an abomination, I would have to agree with you. The great thing is in this business there's always tomorrow. When you do one of these programs every day, there's always tomorrow. Tomorrow is now here. Snerdley said, "It was a great hour. You don't need to --" It was not a great hour. I'm telling you it was not a great hour. (interruption) "The only thing wrong was it wasn't long enough." Don't give me that.

Look, you know, I had these two stories on women, that Mad Men story. I mean, I just went through the motions. I might as well have not even done those two stories because I added nothing to it. Anybody can do what I did. I just read because I was so mad. You do not know how mad I was, and it's rare that I allow this to happen. I'm able to compartmentalize and, you know, put everything out of my mind for these three hours and then join the drudgery afterwards. But it overcame me yesterday, and even if you didn't know -- and I doubt that you didn't. I mean, it was so bad, you had to know based on comparisons of previous programs and what you expected, it was bad.

So I've been waiting all day for this hour to start here so I could apologize to you. I will never, ever -- I mean, yesterday was the equivalent of phoning it in. But it was even worse than that 'cause I was going through the motions of trying. Phoning it in, you don't even try. But I was going through the motions of trying in the third hour. I just was unable to overcome these distractions.

Rush is so cool —he takes care of his people and chastises himself when he knows he was wrong.

I was listening, and I was barely noticed this “melt down”.

Sooo many jealous liberal losers in Sacramento were needlessly rude to him, and he never forgot the few who were really nice to him —he really, really took care of them.

He didn’t later bad-mouth the ones who richly deserved it, either.

Years ago I could listen to you Rush for the entire program. Now I hardly ever listen. But you’re forgiven Rush, eheheheh.

He’s right and very honest. I was listening, thought it boring and turned it off. No big deal, what bothers me is when he says for an intro after a break “hi, howareyou in one long drawl—drives me crazy and wish he would stop.

Our country is being destroyed. Don’t sweat it, Rush.

I’m missing something here. Why was Rush off the rails, or do we know?

Bet you’d complain about the color of the lifeboats on the Titanic, too.

Nothing to worry about.

I’m just happy Rush doesn’t use the made up word ‘Screwells’ to mean ‘Schools’ as much as he used to. It’s confusing and not helpful.

He was having a major email server problem:

He could see none of his own email sent and received over the past 1 year.

It also affected his ability to retrieve past articles that he wanted to discuss, but hadn’t previously been able to.

He can often conceal sickness, fatigue, etc., but this time he TALKED about this electronic problem and because of that, his problems did show.

But if he had said nothing I think few would have noticed.

My one pet peeve about Rush is his misuse of “literally” 95% of the time he uses it —a fairly minor problem.

He’s stuck on “strategery” though and that is getting old. Even Hugh Hewitt does it, not funny and stupid. Some things work, other things should be set aside.

I think it would have been better not to call to much attention to it as it will make it worse & cause people to want to listen or read the transcript.

He uses the word, "literally" incorrectly:

"I read a bizarre article by the WaPo last week, and it LITERALLY blew my brains out..!!!"

Eh...no it didn't. Cuz you'd be dead, or at least unable to say anything about it.

Fussy, huh..? Rush has cut back a lot on it lately, but he used to be a really, really hard-core addict on that one.

He would often misuse that word 15 or 20 times per show, but now he might do it just 3 times, sometimes even less.

I feel silly for talking about it here, though, cuz I think nearly EVERYONE has at least one teeny, tiny complaint, and when they get trundled out it just sounds like whining.

Yeah, everyone has their peave about Rush. But that is OK, glad he is there, living rent free in every liberal’s brain, and “literally” giving them fits.

It was better than when his shows become 3 hr infomercials after a Rush Revere book release.

Rush - you never have to ask forgiveness... You’re attacked almost daily by the left - yet you stay professional and cheerful. God only knows how you do that...

Anyhow Rush Limbaugh are in my prayers - and you have the right to mess up whenever you want to - you’ve earned that and more....

Yes, radio personalities definitely don’t want people listening to their show.
