That is one thing that Rush pisses me the hell off about.

His .mp3 podcasts are carefully edited to do away with ALL parodies and music.

WHY?!

I spent two years listening to them at work until I talked to a friend who insisted that he still did them and stayed up on a day off to listen to a live broadcast.

WHY?!

Probably so you purchase them from Paul Shanklin...that’s my guess.

As he said himself, “Follow the money”.

Probably his sponsors wanted to avoid lawsuits from the leftist artists he was borrowing from.

ROYALTIES!

If Rush was to ‘play music’ on his podcast it would cost MEGA millions of dollars.

The EIB Network pays royalties for all songs played over the air - based upon Arbitron market share (I.E. how many folks are listening).

If he has a steady audience of 6,000,000 people and the price is $.01 per thousand he has to pay $60.00 for each song played - figure it’s $1,000 per show.

On the podcast the fee is something like $.01 per 10 listeners and the fee is based upon subscribers, not actual listeners.

It’s prohibitively expensive. And it’s going up:
