Sunday night: Two reruns of I Love Lucy from the 1950s, colorized (objectionable, but ok whatever) scored the highest total viewers of all scripted shows that night.
Lucy had 6.4 million total viewers. Thats almost twice the very high Mad Men score of 3.3 million viewers on Sunday. Thats shows with scripts. The Billboard Music Awards had 11 million, and 60 Minutes had 9 million.
But of all the other shows on TV Sunday night Dateline, The Simpsons, Battle Creek Lucy prevailed.
Lucy scored twice as many total viewers as Andy Samberg in Brooklyn Nine Nine.

Unlike Rush, however, you do not spend your life in front of the tv, I’m guessing.

I do not even OWN a tv, but because of the radio and internet, I know far more about that fat, ugly little pig than I would ever want.
I loved them all, but that was one of the greats.
One of the greatest ‘50s shows.
But I never thought when watching it back then as a teenager that I’d grow up to look like Fred Mertz!
Ricky was the head of his household. Fred Mertz was the head of his household. Imagine THAT? We gravitate towards shows where males are males and females are females. In today’s shows the male and female roles are interchangeable, confusing, unnatural AND THEREFORE NO FUN TO WATCH!
Exactly, it was her grandfather who a member of the Communist Party. Also it had more speculation that she was a commie because of her Red Hair.
“The Long, Long Trailer” is a thoroughly enjoyable for a nostalgic trip back to the talents of Desi and Lucy. I think it was a 1953 movie..
God I miss those good old days.
Also whether she is or not, it does not take away her accomplishment of being one of the greatest comedians. Her and Desi started their production company and Desi also invented the reruns lol. So yes it just comes down to this..I Love Lucy =) There will never be anyone like her nor the shows. Thank God for reruns.
“..o when Lucy got drunk advertising the liquid vitamin supplement...”
Vitameatavegamin? Where could forget that stuff?
“................that Id grow up to look like Fred Mertz!”
Now THAT is funny. LOL
well... when your not pushing sodomy and cussing every other word, people will watch.
“So yes it just comes down to this..I Love Lucy....”
Indeed. ;>)
It came before the film.
Then I would ask what was the viewer/availability ratio. Mad Men was cable (AMC) right? so direct # to direct # need to be normalized. Then people who watch cable have a high % of time shifters. Record it and watch it later.
She was not a communist. Her grandfather registered the entire family when she was a young woman. Her and Desi gave money to anti Castro groups.
Darned if you are not right.
Our entire family saw it at the Panama Theater in downtown Panama City in 1954.
“Lucy” is okay, but I tend to prefer “I Married Joan.”
