He was living with his stepmother in Hawai’i when recruited and sent to school at Punahoi. His cover was simple: Barry Soetoro, foreign student from Indonesia. (Since his younger foster brother had died earlier that decade, it was a very apt fit.)

After graduating in Hawai’i, he went on to Occidental College were he continued his CIA role.
