Well, some Churches (like the Catholic Church, and maybe others?) still are saddled with that old, archaic, obsolescent nonsense from Jesus about how marrying a divorced person is adultery. Sorry, I have to set the record straight. A Catholic can marry a divorced person without committing adultery. I'm a Catholic and I know these things. It's pretty easy being a Catholic..our rules only change every 1,000 years or so :)

Right you are -— but only if the original attempted marriage was annulled, e.g. found by a Church Tribunal to have been not a binding, sacramental marriage from the git-go.
