If somebody favored Iran, it would be in their interest to “leak” this, whether or not true, to justify the Iranian nuclear program.

I don’t think there is a good chance of a MAD stalemate between Iran and Saudi Arabia. They are eager to go to war, apocalyptic in outlook, and so it may be that the first one who gets them is the first one who uses them.

There have been stories refuting the Seymor Hersh article about Pakistan's role in the bin Laden raid. Some have said Pakistan would not agree to what Hersh claims without a substantial quid pro quo. Perhaps dealing nukes to Saudia Arabia, countering the Iran threat is that requirement.
