What’s next? Lifeguards who won’t get near water? Mechanics who are upset by grease? Bookkeepers with phobias over numbers? Pilots who fear heights? Carpenters who can’t stand the smell of sawdust? AA can take us into all sorts of uncharted waters.
It already did; years ago I met with a bank that wanted to do business with my employer, and two older white gentlemen showed up with a young black fellow (who would handle our account if we moved ahead with this). Every question I put to our prospective rep was handled by either of the two old white guys; our “rep” barely said anything. He was hired with no knowledge, skills, etc. and was basically going to learn on the job (managing our money); needless to say, we didn’t go with that bank...
Employers are expected to hire these “preferred minorities” and then educate them - not with what they failed to learn in higher education, but often with what they failed to learn in grammar school. A recipe for disaster, and a burden most companies can’t keep on their payroll.
