According to the Koran there can only be peace when islam rules over all the people of the world, until then islam is at war with all non-islamic people.
I know, and I agree with Gumdrop that this pope is naive, not only in his trust of the press but in his actual view of world politics. He fails to perceive the essential conflict between good and evil as it is operating on earth today.
