Ancient Egypt was able to feed itself plus a large portion of southern Europe.

Not so current Egypt. They cannot feed themselves and have no resources to speak of to trade for food. They had travel but that is bust now.

They have a huge population that can only be supported by tons of foreign aid. That’s not very sustainable or stable ... and they know it.

The Middle East already has a welfare state, “Palestine”, though Egypt might be able to get the largesse by taking it back and then demanding more from the UN.

“Ancient Egypt was able to feed itself plus a large portion of southern Europe.”

Until the coming of the Varsity under Mohammad and his Disciples who used vast herds of goats to strip North Africa of vegetation, turning the grain basket of Africa into semi-desert during the period 620-720 AD.
