“Btw bone up your timeline....Mad Men is the Elvis generation....the parents of early GenX and late Boomers
Most Boomers are children of Greatest Gen”
I was born in year 5 of the ‘Boom, 1951. The whole reason there was a “baby boom” in the first place is because somewhat over 10 million young American men had been preoccupied in Europe and Asia for several years and in 1945 they all came home and got married.
They were the Glenn Miller, Big Band Generation.
Mad Men is set in the 1960s, some 15 years after the start of the baby boom and about 3 years before that demographic bulge came to an end.
“The series struck me as aimed at Baby Boomers to confirm everything they disliked about their parents was true.”
This is Colorado Tanker imagining the past that he didn’t live through. ‘Boomers with fathers who served in WWII, and there were a lot of them, weren’t likely to dislike their parents.
Nice post
I’m year 11 of the boom as you know....largest year of the boom...in fact largest year of births ever so far in US history Until 2007 which barely edged us out but albeit from a pool of child bearing aged women over double now what it was in 1957
Man remember how many kids when we were around.....as kids....the median age was much lower than now
