There are investigations and then there are “investigations”. My sense if an investigation sees the light of day, some agent will be provided a very narrow path to follow for instance, go ask them if they did anything improper. They will take that to the US Attorney who will ask what are your results and the answer will be were were not able to cooberate any of the allegations and the subject denied any wrong doing. Also more likely than not, it will be done by the civil rights division rather than the public integrity unit.
