Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has filed an amendment to the Trade Act of 2015 to lock in assurances that this legislation cannot be used to change federal immigration law.
The Obama Administration has repeatedly assured Members of Congress that there is nothing in the Trade Act of 2015 that would allow the President to unilaterally make changes to federal immigration laws, said Sen. Cruz. I agree, and we should put it in writing and make it binding law. I am a strong supporter of free trade, but I cannot support legislation that would allow the President to once again circumvent Congress to enact his own immigration laws. Since the Obama Administration has emphatically argued that TPA will not affect immigration, it should support this amendment, which makes that promise explicit.
The amendment states that nothing in the Trade Act of 2015 or in any trade agreement subject to the Act shall alter or affect any law, regulation, or policy relating to immigration.
The amendment also states that any fast-track procedures shall not apply to any implementing bill submitted with respect to a trade agreement that includes any provision that alters or affects any law, regulation, or policy relating to immigration.
The text of the bill is below (please note that H.R. 1314 as introduced relates matters other than trade) or click this link for a PDF:

enjoy the crow coming up
good point. Thank You for illuminating us on this.
Fast track = giving Obama all the power, only 50% required to pass it and no amendments allowed. Previously it was 66% of the Senate required to pass a trade deal and ammendments allowed. it’s treason to give Obama fast track power.
FAST Track = OBama having unlimited power to bring in hundreds of millions of 3rd world immigrants.
If it passes the USA is over.
If they don’t filibuster or stop it with amendments or stop this bill somehow then ALL senators will be to blame no mater if they make a meaningless show vote when only 50% is required to pass it .The time to stop it is the cloture vote
the Senate needs to vote no on cloture to stop this bill.
Fast track reduces the 66% needed to pass treaties to 50% . And no amendments can be added with fast track . Treaties override U.S. laws and the Constitution. Obama can then flood the USA with hundreds of millions of 3rd world immigrants.
Senators have not put up resistance to Obama here nor have they informed the public on this evil scheme. If this bill passes and it looks like it will then ALL Senators are to blame as well as Obama too.
You are singing to the choir
You fool you can stop now. Your silliness is non constructive and only proves what how foolish you are
Sessions is NOT running
Fine Sessions makes you happy. He is NOT running.
I stand with Ted.
True words well said.
The wuss that is Mitch will try and kill this
nicely played
I stand behind Ted 100% with my effort and my money.
I’ve put the whole 2016 election cycle on Cruz control and that’s comforting.
Sorry. I’m not buying this theme. A more logical explanation is that Ted got caught out and is backpedaling at warp speed. Which in and of itself is not a bad thing. I appreciate people who recognize their errors and act quickly to right their course. The Amendment is likely a poison pill that will “allow” him to vote no when it doesn’t pass.
The thing that worries me more is that his instinctive reaction at first was to give the chamber of crony capitalists what they wanted.
You seem to be missing the point. Pay attention to what points Session is making about TPA. It has nothing to do with whether he is a candidate or not. Dolt.
why do you react to me in this manner? It’s childish.
“You really are ignorant where Ted Cruz is concerned.”
No. I’m simply willing to look at the truth, even if I don’t happen to like it. And I don’t like this one little bit.
BTW, Cruz apparently just voted to give dear leader his fast track authority. So I was wrong.
