LEBANON, TN (WSMV) - (video at link)
If a Lebanon inventor has his way, the bathroom experience may never be the same.
Dave Reynolds thinks toilets should glow in the dark, and he's not joking.
"I kept telling this story over and over to people and they laughed," Reynolds said. "And I said, 'One day you're not going to laugh at me. One day you're going to go to the bathroom and think of me.'"
For Reynolds, a glow-in-the-dark toilet just makes sense.
"Not right now, but at 3 in the morning, that's when it comes together," he said. "When you get up in the middle of the night, forgot you installed it, turn the corner and go, wow."
Boxes of Potty Glow toilet seats are now stored under his Wilson County home and are shipping worldwide. Reynolds said it's not a novelty, but a necessity for families with little children.
"Parents would say they don't wake us up anymore. They follow the light, go to the bathroom and go back to bed," he said. "It's a win-win for the parents and a child who's potty trained."
Reynolds said his invention is also great for the elderly and those who wake up groggy in the middle of the night.
"This glow is the same that's used by the U.S. military and NASA, that's how good it is," Reynolds said. "Our seats will glow probably 15 to 20 years."
Reynolds had success as an executive in the music business before moving into his latest venture.
Right now, Home Depot, Lowe's and Amazon carry the toilet seats online for $50. Reynolds handles the shipping from his home.
Nope - when I go to the bathroom I tend to think of Obama...
Sounds like a good idea as long it's not made of plexiglass.
Ditto.
Able to stay drowsy, keep it dark, no aiming involved.
DANG!
Most times when I have to go at work, I wish someone would invent a toilet seat with built in exhaust ventilation and activated charcoal filtering.
Darn restroom can make your eyes water.
I can see little children peeing in bed because of that spooky toilet.
Aliiens have replaced My Toilet....Run Away RUn Away!
Pays for itself in reduced use of nightlights.
