““and Republicans have to face endless news stories about the bad things that happen to Americans if ObamaCare is overturned or repealed”

But, for better or worse it’s the status quo now. So, assuming it is repealed, what ever problems exist after that will be the fault of the GOP. Today the problems are the Dems, and they have been punished by voters for it.

Also it’s logistically not possible to just magically “go back”. For instance companies have changed systems and plans to support the entire staff being less than 30 hour workers. They are unlikely to undo that just because insurance laws change. Rates have changed, plans have changed. Insurers would be under no obligation to go back to the old rates, or plans.

The truth is Obama care probably can be replaced or modified, but not just repealed.

I'm fine with replacement or modification, as long as the worst of it is eliminated:

  1. No employer mandates.
  2. No individual mandates.
  3. No coverage mandates.

There won't be much after that. The exchanges are a good idea, but horribly executed. Providing one-stop shopping makes it a lot easier for people to compare and contrast policies.

One thing that would really help: allowing health insurance companies to operate, nation-wide. Right now, there isn't much competition in some states.
