Hi centurian316,

My Ranger nephew lost some 40-45 pounds while going through the second and third phases of Ranger school. He didn’t have it to lose. The physical activity and limited sleep and calories really strips the weight off. He asked me to pin his tab on at his graduation as he said becoming a Ranger was about endurance. If a candidate didn’t endure to the required level, they could go again. My memory is the first phase was the least physically demanding. The mountains and the swamps were tough for any human.

I admire anyone making the effort to attain that status. I hope the female candidates that attempt again will not have lower standards. I don’t think they will.

Ranger school has been described as “Two months of no food and no sleep”.

The first phase is a lot of head games and weeding out the weak and unmotivated.
Mountain phase almost enjoyable. You actually get a fair amount of sleep.
Florida phase is just pure endurance after the first few days.

No place for a woman IMO.

GWJack, your nephew is likely a graduate of Airbirne training...he may be able to tell you about lowered standards. At Airborne school we had to do ten chinups before each meal. Why? Steering with the T10-C parachute took upper body strength. Ok...no big deal.

So every mess hall at the Airbirne School has a set of chinup bars outside. One is 7-8 feet off the ground. And right next to it - a bar three feet off the ground for women to use lying on thier back. I guess they didnt need to steer - even though it endangers all the jumpers up in the air with them.

Airborne School used to be a six week gut check. Now its three weeks and women lie on thier backs doing chinups. I fear Rangdr School will go the same way.

The insanity continues. It will take the US military, if Hillary Clinton is not elected president, a good 25 years to rebuild after the dismantling by Brenda Obama. Women need to be very far away from any combat role. That is why God made men, to protect women and children. End of story. Men die protecting women, been that way since the beginning of time. They are called the weaker sex for a reason.
