I’ve heard that many Cuban women are involved with prostitution. They like to consort with foreign men, from who they are getting much needed hard currency.
And this cash is much needed by their families. I’ve heard that the average Cuban worker earns around $50 per month, I believe. Even with their free healthcare which Michael Moore adores, $50 won’t go too far.
I want to be careful how I say this. But, trying to say, Cuba has shown us how, when intense pressures are put upon people, that women will reach a breaking point. Big numbers of Cuban women have gotten involved in immoral behaviors they never would have considered otherwise. They are doing what they feel they need to do to take care of their families.
Bkmrk.
“I recommend reading the chapter about Cuba in P.J. ORourkes Eat the Rich.
Along with the rest of the book. I need to read it again soon.
I am surprised at how much people think many of these reporters are objective when in fact it is just as you indicate, they write for the guy signing the check.
That is what I've been told by Canadians. The resorts are nowhere near as nice as those on the other Caribbean islands and the food is bland. If you have low expectations, you can leave the cold Canadian winter behind for cheap getaway on a nice, warm beach.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I saw articles get kicked back or personally had articles kicked back or canned/for rewrites, because a publisher or editor didn’t wish to ‘offend’ a reader segment, politician or advertiser. There are a few ex journos on FR. We will all tell you the same.
People no longer enter the industry to report. They do it to make a buck or push agendas. Hometown paper, website or NYT. WaPo. Doesn’t matter. Believe nothing you read outright. Ever. The only hope to find truth is to piece it together from a variety of sources.
Every time another company decides to enrich the dictator (last week it was Jet Blue airlines, I think), the pro-Obama Miami media was thrilled.
Depends. If you go there to smoke excellent cigars and ogle beutiful women, you could end up having a great time.
That is hard to believe.
Cuba has become a net importer of sugar.
Another shocker.
The first, and best, car I ever owned was a ‘57 Chevy.
Almost worth going there just to see a bunch of them.
First hand experience can be a good thing
We have a city councilman in our town who turns his back when the Pledge of Allegiance is recited. He has a Cuban flag decal on his laptop, which is prominently displayed to the public during council meetings. He was thrilled when Obama dropped the blockade & is planning a visit, taking some gullible folks along. I hope they all enjoy their trip & stay there. Permanently!
