Just as others above said about Illinois and Michigan. The whole country uses Detroit as a punch-line or poster child for inner-city decay, and rightfully so, yet it's not much different other cities with similar demographics. Although I will likely join my conservative brothers and sisters down south when I retire, Michigan is a wonderful state with the exception of Detroit, Flint, Benton Harbor (Benton Harlem, as we say) and a couple of other spots.
Even California has many solid red areas if you check county voting results. We all need to understand that inner-city libtardia largely ends a few miles out.
