And probably no one on this forum would have deflated balls to cheat. Unless they were from Massachusetts.

I am really tired of cheating in all aspects of our society, not just sports.

That having been said, I do not know whether Brady ordered it to be done or knew it was done. Apparently the investigators thought he was involved and are making him pay the price.

Love him or hate him...is anyone out there in their right mind going to give up their personal cell phone without a criminal warrant!? Are you friggin kidding me? For something this trivial?

Investigator: “ don’t worry Mister Brady, we’ll just rifle threw your phone, ignore all the personal texts between you and your wife, pictures of your kids, all intimate communications, etc., and just take what we need m’kay?”

“We swear none of this will end up on TMZ.”

Brady made the only appropriate response in not so many words: “Go f*ck yourself.”

Would this punishment have happened if SpyGate never happened?

This was nothing criminal so I don’t think there could be a criminal warrant. This is rules of the NFL, the organization to which the team belongs. He certainly had the right to not give up his privacy, but apparently the league had the right to determine the suspension. I am not arguing that he should have given up his emails. My point of posting this was to remind everyone of Hillary’s email scandal. It is a little more important for State Dept emails to be released than football emails. I don’t know exactly what happened here and have not read it in detail. I think the answer to this is that everyone uses the same footballs per league specifications. Maybe at the start of the game they are all at 12psi or whatever the number is and the refs control the balls.

Maybe not. I think part of the problem, which they will never discuss, is the racial component. They came down hard on certain black players. Could they let the white guy off without causing major problems in the ranks of black players?

I’m really disappointed in your righteous pontificating, Doug. I have had more respect for you.

None of the NFL’s evidence shows that Brady deflated balls or cheated — none.

You say, “I do not know whether Brady ordered it to be done,” but still slander him.

I will absolutely guarantee you that once Brady gets a fair hearing, he will be exonerated.

The comment about Massachusetts is just ignorant.

I love it when people say they are “disappointed” in what someone else said or did. Oh, I am so disappointed in you. Like a parent or teacher to a child. So condescending. No, I really don’t love it. That was sarcasm. In your case, I think it may be necessary to clarify.

I made it clear that I was agnostic about Brady’s involvement and that “apparently” the investigators thought Brady was involved. After all, I have not seen the evidence or seen his side of the argument other than that he has not had time to “digest it.” I do not know the length of time for his digestive process.

This would be slander: I am certain that Brady did this because he is a known cheating scumbag. To accuse me of slandering him is actually slandering me. I am pleased to pile on and slander Hillary, but I did not do that in Brady’s case.

Since 1996 here I have an enormous body of work in parody and poking fun, along with serious writing. My comment about Massachusetts, since I have no partisan interest in the story, was obviously tongue in cheek. Sports fans, like Democrats, do not care about right or wrong. They defend their guys no matter what. Such can be said about the fans of any team and any city. I simply used Massachusetts because of the location of this team and fanbase in this particular controversy. (If this controversy involved the Giants, I would actually poke some fun at the Garden State, since the Giants do not play in New York.)

You may be right that he could be exonerated if he gets a fair hearing, but I am not going to my bookie with your absolute guarantee. I have made the comment that there could be a racial element to this because of the league’s penalties against black players and how it might look if the white guy does not get the same treatment.

How forthcoming Brady was in the investigation I do not know. I do not think, however, that his flippant digestion comment was helpful. It was mocking. Had he been more forthcoming and gotten out in front of the story, maybe this first round would have him exonerated already.
