I actually agree that a sitting officeholder should resign that office to run for president. Otherwise, they have a safety net to fall back on, and I want them to have nothing to fall back on.

I want them fully committed, in it for the duration, and absolutely nothing held back. That did hold true for McCain, but Romney, sadly, could have been showing us all he was capable of.

But, that includes Govs- Walker, Jindal, Kasich—

So, the GOP loses those govs if those guys want to run.

I agree with that - ONCE they get the nomination.

Bob Dole resigned once his nomination was secured.

The nominee should have NO other duties or ‘worries’.

Remember they ‘made’ Fred Thompson sit out till all the ‘new’ shows of L&O were run...reruns didn’t count....

Of course the SOB’s ‘protect’ themselves. One of the biggest tools the tool incumbents have is calling a ‘press conference’ or going on one of the ‘talk shows’...
