Geez, lighten up. No one is “defending the perverts”. We’re just discussing the proportionality of prison sentences. 15 years for sex on a public beach is just nuts. And as a taxpayer, I am offended by the idea of paying to keep these two idiots on the public dole for that long.
Yes, they should be punished. A heavy fine. Maybe 1000 hours wearing striped overalls and picking up garbage on the highways. But your Talibanesque approval of a 15 year prison sentence is just goofy. I’m sure you secretly favor stoning, but aren’t ready yet to proclaim it in polite society.
As a citizen, I am happy with the idea that society’S remedy for people who are unwilling or unable to abide by its standards of behavior is to remove them from it. I also like the idea that their dissolute lives are given value by serving as warnings to others.
