Because the authorities consider the switchblade knife a dangerous weapon to be regulated. Congress outlawed them in 1958 and many other countries in the world outlaw them, as well. You can posses them in many locales but can't conceal carry them.

But if you're someone who keeps asking the same question over and over again, like a three year old asking, "Daddy, why? Why, Mommy?", guess what? I'm neither your mommy or daddy or your encyclopedia. You can go do your own research as to why some knives, any knives, are illegal.
