Prediction per observed pattern:
One year or so “in the firehouse”, then an “injury”, “fighting” a fire, followed by a light duty office job while she “recuperates”...
She finds that light-duty job to be just her cup of tea...
After a couple more years ghosting in a do-little/nothing office gig, she begins to have recurring pains and debilities due to her past “injuries”, and takes a medical pension...
Seen it again and again...
Had a female probie who couldn’t carry a K12 up a 24’ ladder...Hurt her back at a fire and landed in Dispatch...”Re-injured” her back there because the chairs didn’t fit her properly (I kid you not!)
Finally took her disability pension...
Worked busy engine companies 38 years and have the scars, burns, broken bones and surgeries to prove it...Most men work that job, in the firehouse, busy companies for 25-35 years...Women, not so much...
Sorry, Ladies...Occasionally a woman comes along who can cut the mustard, but she’s just the exception proving the rule...
Flame away!
