Detroit police Chief James Craig was on CNN this morning. I got the impression that they were hoping that he would give them an angry black man response but he’s a lot closer in thinking to David Clarke than Al Sharpton.

He thinks the prosecutor was too quick to charge and charging all 6 was a mistake. Says he agrees with the broken windows theory of crime prevention and that Detroiters have demanded that they keep the teenagers off the street at night. He’s also pushing to create a welcoming environment for business by controlling crime.

Could you ask Chief Craig to call Mayor Blake? She has lifted the curfew in Baltimore after ONE DAY of "peaceful rallies and protests". An extended period of law and order might encourage some business owners to rebuild/reopen. If the same old stuff starts up again, they'll do the opposite and who would blame them?
