Former President George W. Bush doesnt like to complain. How can he when hes riding through sunny trails alongside some of our nations heroes? Number 43 kicked off the 5th annual Warrior 100K in Crawford, Texas, a three-day bike event held to recognize wounded warriors.
Fox Newss Dr. Marc Spiegel caught up with the former president before he hit the trails Thursday. President Bush explained what made this group of bikers so special.
President George W. Bush's 2015 W100k bike ride (Video)
Were here riding with people that got hurt. Yet theyre refusing to let their injury consign them to a dull, meaningless life These vets are setting an example to other citizens who might be complaining about their fate in life.
These veterans courageous spirit in the midst of malady is inspiring. Heres a bit more information about the bike ride held in their honor.
The Warrior 100K and its fall companion, the Warrior Open golf tournament are signature annual events of the George W. Bush Institutes military service initiative. The institute, Bushs think tank, is part of the George W. Bush Presidential Center at Southern Methodist University.
Bushs passions for mountain biking and golf are well-known. So the two events are a natural complement to the institutes wide-ranging, research-based work involving military veterans, their families and the 46,000 nonprofits that aim to help service members.
By holding this annual event, President Bush is helping to bring attention to these veterans needs, while also highlighting their strengths. Hes not the only one. The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2216) was created by concerned members of Congress to ensure necessary funding for veterans programs and to make the Department of Veterans Affairs more accountable. Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) has also proposed an amendment to boost veteran job training and services, which will help ensure their talents are not being neglected.
We cant afford to leave our veterans behind, and my amendment to help veterans better transition from military service to the workforce is another important way we can meet our obligations to our nations brave service members.
After the shameful status of the VA was revealed last year, these politicians dedication to our vets is extremely welcome.
Veterans wounds are often invisible. Our efforts on their behalf should not be.
I am supporting Ted Cruz with my dollars/mo.
And you are doing ..........?????????????????
And .. have you heard what he plans on doing when his term is up at pres ..??
He’s going back to “community organizing”.
Interesting ..?? That means he can roam around the country stirring up all kinds of trouble .. AND THEN HAVE NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THE MESS ..???
GEEEEE .. THAT’S WHAT HE’S BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS.
As a side note, I hear Obama likes to golf too......
Yeah, but unlike that arrogant pos Occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, President Bush knew what the priorities were.
That arrogant pos only thinks about himself. The veterans are the least on his mind
Also because he loves the troops and the veterans
You said it
crawl back under your rock, from which you crawled out from you miserable troll
Wow, Very kind of you sir!
This has nothing to do with Jeb Bush’s presidential run. President Bush as been doing that ever since he left the People’s House
cool.
You’re welcome Madam, it was my pleasure
How I miss that man.
I challenge any liberal out there to look me in the eye and tell me that Barack Obama will be doing things like this after he leaves the White House.
Now what if Bush II actually when out on the road and laid some substantive criticism of the 0bama administration’s handling of vets with regards to their treatment and second amendment rights?
Better yet, what if Bush criticized 0bama about military issues in general and about the management of the economy and the destruction of the constitution?
The ex democrat presidents always criticize the Republican presidents in office and Bush 2 has personal experience, and he didn’t do a very good job of defending himself from his critics IMO. Don’t tell me that Bush is too classy because he respects the office of the presidency. 0bama is transforming the office into a dictatorship, so does Bush respect that or is he too thick to see that?
This is window dressing, there’s nothing wrong with window dressing, but it won’t fix a broken house.
We know better than that. That arrogant pos would charge them a fee to ride with him and play golf with him. You can count on that
Well he actually did last week, or did you miss that?
So do I
I second that........some people just don't know when it's appropriate to keep their mouth shut.
I missed that but whatever it was it certainly it wasn’t memorable as Cheney’s comments. I don’t think Bush 2 has been out there warning that 0bama’s trying to become a dictator. Did Bush 2 address “do not treat” lists? Did he discuss the confiscation of veterans’ guns? What about demoralizing and emasculating the military? How about all those high ranking officer purges? Any thoughts on making Iran an ally and Israel an enemy?
What about defending TP groups from IRS abuses? What about reversing some of his tax cuts? What about the massive wasteful government spending? (Oh sorry, he would be for that). How about secret trade agreements like TPP? (Sorry again, but da Bush would like that too)
Yes. Bush has been an irreplaceable force in the conservative movement; his ex presidency has been a paragon of conservative resistance.
I can’t wait for jebbush to forfill all the Bush desires.
