It’s a dignity thing — democracy is threatened by racism and poverty.
The two seminal pieces of Legislation in the 20th century happened just before the tumult of 1968–the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and the Voting Rights Act in 1965. Fifty years later, we ought to be in a season of celebration. Instead, we find ourselves in an American catastrophe. Trayvon Martin. Eric Garner. Freddie Gray.
On April 4, 1967, Martin Luther King Jr. gave the most controversial speech of his life, “Beyond Vietnam.” A year later to the day, almost to the hour, he was assassinated. In that speech he had pointed out a triple threat facing America: racism, poverty and militarism. In 2015, what are the issues still threatening our democracy? Racism. Poverty. Militarism.
King’s views about how to redeem the soul of America had fallen on deaf ears. The younger generation wanted something more tangible than nonviolence. When Magnificent Montague, one of the most well-known black radio hosts in Los Angeles, used the phrase Burn, baby, burn, that resonated. 1968 was also the year of the Mexico City Olympics, when Tommie Smith and John Carlos held up their fists with the black gloves. I see a group of militant blacks (or any other race) coming down my quite law-abiding cul-de-sac with obvious intent to destroy our home, ALL bets are off.
Contrary to the Black Panthers advocating such, you know damn well "your people" will just continue to destroy their own nest. Have at and turn ex-tolerant white folks like me against you. You and your Bros are doing an excellent job of it. Come on down to Orange County, CA. The the decent hard-working whites, blacks, hispanics, asians (remember the Koreans in the LA riots) won't allow you to destroy our homes and communities. Middle to Upper Class African Americans might think so, but the true pipe hitting gangsta knows that this will all end soon. All this unrest is going to hurt business. A lot more green to be made selling smack than looting CVS’. The guys in the neighborhoods with the most guns are going to decide how far this will go.
To add, ask Hubert Humphrey how all this urban unrest worked out for him. The white Obama voter might be releasing their law and order inner selves. Nixon, Tan, Rested, and Ready.

I have engaged Persians for years when the wife and I go out to restaurants, bars, hotels. I've never met one that wasn't personable, polite, open to discussion, and absolutely hate what the mullahs have done to their County. And no, I'm sure they weren't BSing me.
I ask the right questions for an intellectual or emotional response and have always gotten the same answer - screw the mullahs and their totalitarian control. What a waste we had a Resident that wouldn't support their grass-roots uprising some years back.
