Christ said to love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you. He also said to be "wise as serpents, (harmless as doves)." Christ Himself was the target of continuous traps and gotcha questions by the Pharisees, which he skillfully defeated and turned back on His attackers.

Christ knew that he was dealing with the Enemy, in the guise of fellow Israelites. Modern Christians should be at least as alert and discerning about foul beings like Schieffer et al. disguised as fellow Americans.
