The chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi said he might take former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton at her word if she swears under oath that she’s turned over any relevant documents he’s seeking.
“If she were, under some theory, able to say, ‘yes, I can promise you under penalty of perjury you have every single document you’re entitled to,’ that would probably shut off that line of inquiry,” Rep. Trey Gowdy, South Carolina Republican, told USA Today’s “Capital Download.”
“There may be other questions about the security of the server or why you gave this person clintonemail dot com address but you didn’t give this person — those are all separate questions,” he added. “I just need to make sure that the public record is complete.”
Mrs. Clinton said in March that she exclusively used a private email address while serving as the nation’s top diplomat largely out of convenience. She turned over about 30,000 emails she deemed work-related to the State Department in late 2014 — nearly two years after leaving office — and deleted the rest, also wiping clean a private server and declining to turn the server over to an independent party.

Never take Hillary’s word on anything. She lies like an Islamic “taqqiya” observer, or a communist posing as a libel (more likely for her given her background with the reds in the legal and educational fields).
Sorry, i know more than a little about working lying witnesses. You never let them explain. You never promise the media and the public that if little old Hillary will just say she gave everything of relevance, you will end that line of inquiry. She wiped her hard drive ffs. She’ll say she gave everything relevant and then argue relevance for the next ten years, no matter what Gowdy comes up with. Do you recall Bill arguing the meaning of the word “is”? Hillary and her lawyers would have a field day and you would never shut her mouth again! You never invite her and her people to speak. You make them answer tightly scripted questions for which you already have solid, incontrovertible evidence.
It’s over. He sold out, or is the stupidest “witness worker” and trial strategist i’ve ever seen.
I’m not saying it’s impossible he’s just really stupid, since the prosecutor’s office pay far less than blue chip corporate and thus usually get the bottem of the barrel law school grad, it’s just extremely unlikely.
Once you have tried a few hundred cases, you learn to never do what he just did as a tricky strategery. He’s letting her go. Period.

Trey is just getting ready to pounce.
He was appointed by Speaker Bonehead their this job back in May of 2014, so he’s just being very, very, very patient in preparing to pounce sometime this year, or next.
Or maybe 2017. Or not.

Gowdy is turning into Boehners jerkwad
Gowdy is dealing with a masterful liar that can evade his lame traps.
Gowdy is thinking if she doesn’t appear under oath, then that appears as an admission of guilt.
He’s thinking on the other hand if she appears, then I’ll nail her.
No Mr. Gowdy, she WILL APPEAR UNDER OATH and she will qualify all her statements “I tried my best”,. “I can’t be sure but I was as thorough as I could be”, etc.
And if he presses her, she will do a classic Clinton and make it look like another Republican is playing politics in an effort to derail her campaign for President as the first woman to be nominated as a presidential candidate.
There are ways to bring the Clintons down but republicans such as Gowdy are unwilling to sacrifice themselves to do it.
Sheesh. I think I’m going to ignore anything about Trey Gowdy until he does something substantial. For now he’s just filling a suit like the rest of them.
