Don’t fear! California got it covered!

“Gay Couples Will Receive Fertility Coverage Under New State Law”

Unmarried and gay couples will be ensured the same access to insurance coverage for fertility treatments as heterosexual couples under a bill California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law Tuesday

“Reproductive medicine is for everybody’s benefit,” Ammiano said in a statement. “To restrict fertility coverage solely to heterosexual married couples violates California’s non-discrimination laws. I wrote this bill to correct that.”

This is nuts. Infertility is the inability to achieve pregnancy via normal, PIV sexual intercourse. None of the gay couples are tested for actual infertility, and most of them are not physiologically infertile. Therefore they are not being "treated" for actual, medically-defined infertility, they are being enabled to bring babies into the world while specifically rejecting normal marriage and stable family-formation.

Straight, single people, similarly, are being enabled to bring babies into the world while rejecting marriage and stable family-formation.

This is what comes from defining reproduction as an individual right (which it is not) rather than examining what the children actually need: a mother and father who are married to each other.

There is no social-justice or public-policy reason to enable this deviancy.
