The producers of “Gotham” used an obscure Dvorak piece in the ballroom scene last week.

Interestingly enough, most kids movies are now using really old rock and roll as the theme in their movies. I have a special-needs student who is addicted to movie trailers on You-Tube and likes the songs. Here are just a few:

Ninja Turtles Movie (Happy Together by the Turtles)
The Boxtrolls(She’s So Square by Buddy Holly)
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty(Space oddity by David Bowie)

And, of course, “The Ride of the Valkyries” shows up frequently! Mostly in the monster Movies.

I love Dvorak!

I have to stick a “J” in his name so the kids pronounce it correctly. I have also simplified “Going Home’ so the kids can play it.

An eight year old boy student of mine entered his talent show at school after only one month with me and played a medly of “Ode to Joy, Going Home, and Turkish March.

He won.
