If you look at the court record at the link...it looks more like Freddie Gray is the defendant and the Peachtree financial company was probably a debt collector for Allstate. They were likely trying to get a structured resettlement from Freddie on behalf of Allstate.

Story at link stinks.

I wonder if he played the insurance sweepstakes?

I was told 10 years ago from a claim adjuster the urban yutes without a job were well known to walk in front of traffic hoping to get hit so they could cash in on insurance settlements.

Given his criminal record I’d say odds are 10/1 he scammed them.

No, Peachtree pays a lump sum in exchange for the stream of income from a structured settlement. The recipient pays high imputed interest rates.

J.G. Wentworth is similar. You have probably seen their commercials.
