These ads are very mild compared to the DirecTV ad “Hannah and her talking horse” where the horse is talking about being in ‘show business’ in Tijuana, and the Schick Electric Bikini Razor where the 3 girls in bikinis are standing in front of little ‘bushes’. 2 of the girls use scissors to awkwardly trim their ‘bushes’, but the 3rd girl uses the Schick Bikini Razor to quickly sculpt hers into a heart-shape.
It’s sort of reminiscent of what would have been called seriously naughty over half a century ago. It kind of carries a nostalgic buzz.
That said, I could understand wanting to keep it squeaky clean. But then why not nix “Sell your sole [soul]” as well.
Maybe she could come at it from the blessing end, use puns that suggest virtuous things. Then the bus company could not complain.
