I got out of Baltimore in 1966 but we had a family store there until we closed it in 1987.

I grew up not far from Mondawmin Mall. Saw it being built. Once the blacks moved up from the inner city, it became like the Wild West for a while. Also one of the worst high schools in the city was not far away. Plenty of “brothers” to stir up things, and did.

The hardworking, decent black professionals moved out Liberty Heights/Liberty Road from the area in which some of the riots are taking place now (Penn. and North Ave, where my late grandmother had a store during the depression. No trouble back then. Jews, Christians, whites and blacks got along a lot better back then. My grandfather hired a young black teenage in 1938 and he stayed with us until we closed the store in 1987. He even attended my Bar Mitzvah and my son’s Bris. Things were different back then.

Even the Democrat mayors (of whom I knew one and my mother was on another’s cultural/arts commission), were decent people. Unfortunately black mayor Curt Schmoke, the great “black hope” of the 1970’s, gt compromised by the black power machines and caved in to them. It was downhill from the, despite a couple of white mayors trying to stem the slide.

In fact, it was Nancy Pelosi’s brother (D’Allesandro III), who let the black rioters go unchallenged in the Jewish small business sections of East Baltimore. Lombard Street, next to the Italian section (and right down the block from where Nancy and my mother were born), was hit, as were many isolated Jewish small businesses who actually had a very proud record of hiring black workers when other white businesses did not.

Police and Fire Intelligence units back in 1968, and now, had information on who the outside (and inside) agitators and rioters were, but were not allowed to interfere with them, even if they were from out of state (Cops got their license plate numbers).

On one occasion, I worked with the Baltimore CID on a murder case, and with other beat police on several other crimes. These guys knew what was going on in their communities but the Democrats caved into the black political machines out of fear and for votes.

Look at what Baltimore is now. Fear and a gun to her head forced my sister out of Bolton Hill (her neighbor was strangled to death and her apartment was burgled by a DC-based professional criminal who stayed with his aunt up on North Avenue).

The last white mayor of Baltimore was Marxist O’Malley. Looks like his chickens have come home to roost. The new black mayor, another woman (one is in jail), has turned out to be a weak sister and has literally turned the streets of the city over to small but organized gangs of black radicals and criminals (some in training).

Gee, just like DC back in the 60’s. I was there at the beginning. Watched it burn and nothing was done to stop it, because LBJ put commie Ramsey Clark (AG) in charge. He won’t even let the soldiers on duty put live ammo in their rifles. Today, Clark is a hardcore communist supporter of the Workers World Party (a Stalinist, No. Korea-supporting group).

Lots of stories about both cities. Mayor Marion Barry (aka “Mayor for Life” or “Crook for Life”) is a hero to the blacks down here. If they only knew how vile a person he was (beat his second wife badly), got kickbacks on contracts, and was a general political crook.

Today DC is the Capitol of America, and known as “The Capitol of Potheads and Potholes”. Drive around No. Capital Street, Michigan Avenue NE, Maine Ave SE, etc. and you’ll see more potholes than I saw bomb craters in VN.

Democrats are the death of the major American cities, and it is only going to get worse, if that is possible.
