Yes, they've been ordered to stand down. I believe the official rationale is to give space to the looters so as not to escalate the situation.
Here you have governments actively poking their noses into every conceivable aspect of our lives where it's none of their business; and yet when it comes to one clearly legitimate role of government -- protection of life and property -- they are derelict.
I'd be so pissed if I were a Baltimore taxpayer. I'd sue to get my tax dollars back after this fiasco. Total breach of the social contract.

A lot of the initial cleanup was done by local citizens who wanted to help. They picked up the broken glass and debris after the rioters left. Some money came from gofundme and other private charitable efforts. Over $100,000 was raised by the I Love Ferguson campaign ( www.iloveferguson.com )This effort was led by one of our former mayors who ran for and won a seat in the new city council. Federal and state programs were not helpful, as the red tape proved to be insurmountable and the receipts paltry. Thanks for your prayers and add Baltimore to your list; they're going to need God and a lot of good people.
