Actually, the origin of the word came from a movie in which “The Purge” is a governmentally approved set-aside window during which killing is allowed without consequence.

Pretty much sums up the present situation.

Could also be interpreted to mean “killing cops and any other honkeys we come across”

It refers to a movie where for 24 hours there are no laws.
