I wonder how many never train. I’m rural so the range is out the back door. I also will draw and dry fire repeatedly while watching TV in the evening.

That's what Sherlock Holmes used to do, and it works just fine. [A paper box from a ream of paper, filled with used paper, junk mail, and other neatly stacked papers will stop just about anything, even a .308 rifle round.]
