The subtweet: Its how everyone from your neighbors kid to Justin Bieber chucks insults and criticism online without directly naming their target.
Add Sen. Jon Cornyn (R-Texas) to the list of subtweeters.
On Saturday morning, the Hill noted that Cornyn seemed to be lashing out at fellow Texas Republican and presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz with the tweet below.
FYI: Cloture ends debate only. It does not confirm a nominee. Otherwise a subsequent vote on whether to confirm a nominee is meaningless.

FYI: Cloture ends debate only, Cornyn wrote. It does not confirm a nominee. Otherwise a subsequent vote on whether to confirm a nominee is meaningless.
As the Hill noted, Cornyn seemed to be chastising Cruz for skipping the final vote on the confirmation of Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch especially given Cruz outspoken opposition to Lynch.
Cruz was the only senator not present at the Thursday confirmation vote, apparently because he needed to get to a fundraiser in Texas that evening.
Cruz camp has long argued that cloture was what mattered.
If the Senate could get 60 votes for cloture, they could get 51 for final confirmation, Cruz spokeswoman Amanda Carpenter tweeted Thursday. Cloture is the only vote that mattered.
When Cornyns Saturday subtweet surfaced, it didnt take Carpenter long to fire back with a series of tweets.
If [Republican] leadership could hold up vote for leverage on legislation they could have stopped it to, you know, support the Constitution, she wrote. They didnt.
Read the blistering tweets below:
Since I've been offline I see there has been cont'd debate on Lynch. 20 R's who voted yes for cloture paved way for her confirmation. Simple
Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) April 25, 2015
It's for them to explain why they would vote to shut off debate and allow her to be confirmed. Cruz said to stop her at every step
Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) April 25, 2015
Cruz said the Republicans should stop her in committee. They didn't.
Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) April 25, 2015
Cruz said GOP leadership should not bring her to the floor. They did.
Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) April 25, 2015
Cruz said R's should not vote to cut off debate and go to a final vote. 20 R's did. Leadership wanted her to be confirmed. It's that simple
Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) April 25, 2015
After 20 Republicans joined with Democrats to give green light to the final vote, which needed only 51 votes, it was over folks.

Cornyn seemed to acknowledge the Cruz camps point in a tweet later Saturday.
True, debate continues indefinitely @StocktonFirst: @billpostmus But you can't have a confirmation vote if cloture isn't invoked. .

Another Texas Republican Took a Swipe at Ted Cruz. See How His Spokeswoman Returned Fire With These Seven Brutal Tweets.
I think it would be classy of Cruz to say, “I should have been in the Senate that day to vote against Lynch. I apologize.”
Apologies are a dime a dozen, but sticking to your principles is a rarity. The vote was over when cloture passed. Pretending otherwise insults intelligent constituents, which Cornyn regularly attempts to do.
And Cornyn was one of the traitors who voted for cloture to move the nomination forward, before he voted against. He’s another Democrat in an R jersey
Alexander
Burr
Capito
Corker
Cornyn
Gardner
Hatch
Roberts
Rounds
Thune
Tillis
Cochran
Ayotte
Graham
Above the line voted for cloture, below voted for confirmation, except Hatch who voted for both
They are all Democrats in R jerseys and should be removed from office. They advance the lefts agenda under the guise of being Republicans.
Yeah, because then she wouldn’t be Attorney General. Oh, wait, yes she would...
Cornyn, you’re at the point where you need to start being honest. If you fake like you’re a supporter of the Constitution, we can tell by your actions when you go against it.
If you start whining and crying about Ted Cruz like you’re doing, it makes you look even worse.
I don’t know about it being “classy” but it certainly would have been “meaningless”.
Apologize?
Sen. Cruz could do nothing given that the SCUM GOP party
(undocumented Democrats, all) support every treason,
every lie, every atrocity, and every corruption they see.
The GOP is dead to conservatives, especially given
that the GOP foisted the IRS on the Tea Party.
Cornyn’s cloture scam is being smoked out and he’s feeling the heat. His sophistry in explaining his vote to advance the Lynch nomination to the floor vote rather than use the Senatorial tools available to stop this radical racist/marxist is just too transparent to hide behind any longer. We see your true colors, John.
"I could not have destroyed America without the GOP."
Cornyn does it regularly and successfully, he gets reelected despite him being a Democrat in an R jersey and advancing the left’s agenda using these same tactics. Vote for cloture and then vote against as a fig leaf.
He won't even take my calls now. He knows I want him out next time, and am working to make sure that he retires.
Cornyn has played the cloture game way too long.
/johnny
I will not be voting for someone who thinks he can get away with voting for her before voting against her.
Cruz can take it. He’s a mensch.
He did vote against Lynch.
And if you are too ignorant to understand the rules of the Senate and what votes matter, then by all means continue to vote for the Establishment candidate.
Anybody that has been following the abominable actions of the GOPe in the Senate for years now should be well aware about how it’s worked.
Let me guess, are you going to call for Cruz to apologize since his filibuster of Obamacare funding in 2013 ended before he “was physically unable to stand”? You remember that vote? The GOPe voted for cloture that allowed 60 votes to bring Obamacare funding to a vote which needed only 51 votes. After cloture passed, they then voted against the measure knowing full well that it was going to pass so they could go home and tell people they voted against it.
Cruz did not want a Lynch vote to come to the floor, but the committee and Mitch McConnell allowed the cloture vote anyway. He did everything he could. When cloture passed it was obvious she was going to be confirmed.
So, the 10 GOP Senators that voted FOR cloture but AGAINST Lynch, you don’t have a problem with them going back to their constituents and saying they opposed her when in fact it was their “Yes” vote on cloture that allowed the confirmation vote in the first place?
Yet, you do have an issue with Ted Cruz because he voted against Cloture, then left before the confirmation vote?
Do you think he would have voted Yes?
Use some common sense.
Obamacare is law because Olympia Snowe voted for cloture.
These idiots aren’t fooling anybody by allowing leftist nominees/policies to move forward only to vote against them and then beat their chest to the conservative base.
Cornball is still steaming over the way Sen Cruz exposed him - and others - on the debt ceiling/filibuster cloture vote.
Keep at ‘em, Sen Cruz.
