What the News Isn’t Saying About Vaccine-Autism Studies ( Sharyl Attkisson )
Sharyl Attkisson ^ | April 25, 2015 | Sharyl Attkisson

Posted on 04/25/2015 6:37:22 AM PDT by george76

A new study this week found no link between vaccines and autism. It instantly made headlines on TV news and popular media everywhere. Many billed it as the final word, “once again,” disproving the notion that vaccines could have anything to do with autism.

What you didn’t learn on the news was that the study was from a consulting firm that lists major vaccine makers among its clients: The Lewin Group.

That potential conflict of interest was not disclosed in the paper published in The New England Journal of Medicine; the study authors simply declare “The Lewin Group operates with editorial independence.”

(As an aside, according to OpenSecrets.org, The Lewin Group’s parent company, UnitedHealth Group, is a key government partner in Obamacare. Its subsidiary QSSI was given the contract to build the federal government’s HealthCare.gov website. One of its top executives and his family are top Obama donors.)

Conflicts of interest alone do not invalidate a study. But they serve as important context in the relentless effort by pharmaceutical interests and their government partners to discredit the many scientists and studies that have found possible vaccine-autism links.

...

The supposedly best medical experts in the world who deny vaccines have anything to do with autism remain at an utter loss to explain this generation’s epidemic. To declare the science “settled” and the debate “over” is to defy the plain fact that many scientists worldwide are still sorting through it, and millions of people are still debating it.

The body of evidence on both sides is open to interpretation. People have every right to disbelieve the studies on one side. But it is disingenuous to pretend they do not exist.

We may eventually find that homosexuality is a birth defect also caused by advanced maternal age. Excerpt:

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/autism-maternal-age/

It is common knowledge: As women get older, pregnancy becomes a riskier enterprise. Advanced maternal age is linked to a number of developmental disorders in children, such as Down’s syndrome. Now, a study has confirmed that older mothers are more likely to give birth to a child with autism, too.

Sometimes I think that we *need* another polio epidemic, because it’s the ONLY thing that’s going to make the most rabid (pun definitely intended) anti-vaxxers shut up once, and for all.

Far too many people are far too removed from the immediate reality of easily-preventable childhood diseases that kill and maim thousands of children a year.

I have several friends, who are nurses in California, and they have to deal with the anti-vaxxer nonsense all the time. One in particular said that she thinks Jenny McCarthy should be forced to be an acute care nurse for six months in some Afrian Shithole where they’ve never heard of vaccines, and actually see for herself what it’s like.

The elephant in the corner is that the definition of autism changed right about the same time there was a spike in autism cases. If you provide a more inclusive definition, of course you will have more cases. This is hardly rocket science.

The same way they ignore the link between The Pill and Breast Cancer:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month ignores the pill’s link to cancer.

Did you read the article? She points out that the study that is being touted was done by a company that stands to make lots of money from vaccines and is directly connected to Obamacare.

I don’t remember anything about autism in the 50’s. Was it called something else then?

A must read

An example of her characteristically extensive research from this article

‘There’s the case of Hannah Poling, in which the government secretly admitted multiple vaccines given in one day triggered her brain injuries, including autism, then paid a multi-million dollars settlement, and had the case sealed from the prying public eyes under a confidentiality order.

And this:

‘The supposedly best medical experts in the world who deny vaccines have anything to do with autism remain at an utter loss to explain this generation’s epidemic. To declare the science “settled” and the debate “over” is to defy the plain fact that many scientists worldwide are still sorting through it, and millions of people are still debating it.

Maybe those “anti-vaxxers” actually read articles and real studies.

From life site news aug 2005

GENEVA, Switzerland, August 8, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A press release issued on July 29th of this year by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a division of the World Health Organization (WHO), declared the little publicized classification of combined estrogen-progestogen oral contraceptives (OCs) as carcinogenic. The IARC placed the contraceptives into their Group 1 classification, the highest classification of carcinogenicity, used only “when there is sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in humans.” (emphasis theirs)’

It was always autism, but the definition was very narrow. The classic definition, iirc, is the cases where the person is basically wholly non responsive. Those cases are pretty rare. The new definitions has expanded in all kinds of directions, thus adopting more and more cases.

YEP.IF WE JUST PUMP ENOUGH EXPENSIVE DRUGS AND CHEMICALS INTO THE KIDS THEY WILL BE SUPER HEALTHY.NOT.But some people WILL become rich.

Perhaps if the vaccine makers emphasized true safety, avoided certain hazardous chemicals as preservatives, and recognized the body can't deal well with the cocktails of too many vaccines in a short time period, the anti-vaxxers would be fewer.

Also from life site, another have-to-dig-for- it, WHO - accepted link /study:

‘It shows what is called a “dose effect”, i.e., two abortions increase the risk more than one abortion (76% risk increase with two or more abortions), and three abortions increase the risk even more (89% risk increase with three or more abortions). Risk factors that show such a dose effect have more credibility in terms of actually causing the disease’

“Maybe those “anti-vaxxers” actually read articles and real studies.”

Yes, and those here who use that pejorative term ( perhaps in their own ignorance) seemingly want to deride parents who are concerned about the lives of the most precious things they have on this earth. In the past, we, as parents, have been bull$hitted by “big pharma” and had to live with the adverse results (can you say Thalidomide), so my hat’s off to those parents who care enough to be as informed as they can be in making crucial decisions about the healthcare of their children. The problem here is those pesky informed parents are getting in the way of millions of bucks in profits by people who are like GM with their ignition locks playing the odds that not too many children will suffer. This would be much less of an issue to day if it weren’t for the fact that we’re letting unhealthy trash into our country from the world’s $hitholes!

Thank you. I did exhaustive research 30 years ago before my kids were born and chose to not vaccinate.

It was called autism. It was a fraction as prevalent

Grew in major suburb with mega crowds of baby boom kids all formula fed one after the other Irish twins Irish triplets coming along at too fast a pace for anyone to keep track of them

A few had mental slowing. Autism? Cerebral palsy- yes.

Now, every family I know is touched with autism. An in law brought her child in for a round of A ton of vaccines at once. She was too busy to space them out. That was in 1996, when even then, the Germans and the Japanese were spacing them

Kid was fine. Came out never having had a normal conversation again.

Exactly.

Until the Feds began providing school $$$ for autism, it was very rare indeed, because it was defined very narrowly. I had acquaintances in the late 60s with a son who really WAS autistic - completely incapable of any human contact, non verbal, fixated on machinery and loud noises, just sat around and rocked repetitively. When they became too old to care for him he had to be institutionalized. Horrible, horrible situation but there was literally no way to make contact.

Now, kids who are just "a little odd" are given a diagnosis. It's made it difficult to quantify the problem, or to get any kind of strategy going to help the kids who really have the disorder.
