BREAKING NEWS At least 71 people died after a powerful magnitude-7.9 earthquake shook Nepals capital and the densely populated Kathmandu Valley around noon Saturday, Nepal's Home Ministry says.
Sky News also reports that at least 50 people are trapped underneath rubble of the citys iconic Dharahara Tower, one of Kathmandus landmarks built by Nepals royal rulers in the 1800s and a UNESCO-recognized historical monument.

Thanks for the pictures. With the roads out, it will be more difficult to get help in (obviously). Hopefully we (the USA) are flying in help as we speak.

If you had stated that, it would have been different.
Rather, the repetitive photos, lacking accompanying comment, in context to my own comment, smacked of ridicule.
Apologies if I’m oversensitive. Too many times I’m getting stabbed in the back at FR for stating an opinion.

That is simply shocking to see, as that is one of the major tourist destinations. Having been there several times, I still cannot believe it. Will be curious to see Swayumbunath and Pashputinath, also Patan and Bhaktapur.

Many sources now say 800 or more dead. Likely thousands with many never accounted for.

Any pictures of Thamel?
Or Swayambhunath?
I have emailed some friends there and do not expect to hear fro them anytime soon because communication will most likely be intermittent for some time.

Well most here know when there's an event I'm not always exact with my verbiage as I'm on a roll getting photos to post here...they even pick up after me if I've got something wrong....but when someone mentions something of interest and I come across photos pertaining to that..I generally try and remember to post them. It was easy to do for you since those photos came up very soon after you mentioned Everest.

Ok so we’re looking at a bridge that fell onto road here. ..I think. Oftentimes in chaos it’s tough to sort out reality.

One said on twitter...”read in bbc live feed Swayambhunath crumbled too.”...and another...”Just heard Swayambhunath is down”
No photos except one which was misrepresented...but I’ll look further...perahps enough it appears it did get damage.
