BREAKING NEWS At least 71 people died after a powerful magnitude-7.9 earthquake shook Nepals capital and the densely populated Kathmandu Valley around noon Saturday, Nepal's Home Ministry says.
Sky News also reports that at least 50 people are trapped underneath rubble of the citys iconic Dharahara Tower, one of Kathmandus landmarks built by Nepals royal rulers in the 1800s and a UNESCO-recognized historical monument.

Screams and the sound of an avalanche could be heard over the phone line Vajpai was speaking on. At Everest base camp, Romanian climber Alex Gavan tweeted that the 6.7 aftershock had set off three avalanches.

They just had a 6.7
aftershock. That size aftershock is about as strong as Northridge earthquake in Los Angeles in the 1990's.
Death toll keeps climbing as more and more rubble is searched for victims.
As Christians hear in the Bible, one will not know the place or time when the Lord cometh...

There have been 31 aftershocks in Nepal since Saturday's earthquake. ...All of them were magnitude 4 and above....the region is prone to soil liquefaction in strong earthquakes, when vibrations can cause solid ground to turn in to something akin to quicksand, swallowing buildings.....Aftershocks Can Continue For 2 Months

Death toll over 2,000 now and climbing.....injured over 5,000....they have concerns over the ground holding up under all these after shocks....32 since the first hit....the ground is such it would begin to swallow houses.

I wonder how much Mount Everest has changed in elevation on account of this quake. Is it higher or lower? Will it change by inches, feet, or yards?

I don’t know...but there’s a couple posters who check back here because they want to know that as well...all I’m hearing is they’re having a heck of a time at Everest as boulders travel with these avalanches....and this last 6.7 quake shook three more avalanches.
