If he had, before he made that needless error, he was mistaken. Huck and Santorum have the repute of losers, and Cruz had been well-positioned to snatch up previous supporters of theirs. Frankly, this move makes it look like Cruz is playing social conservatives for suckers.

I don’t think he’s playing anyone for suckers. In very public fashion, Sen. Cruz made it known that he has support among these gay individuals, who support his policies on Israel and defense. They supported him in Texas. Myself, I think it’s great.

However, if you, and others like minded won’t support him for that reason, he’s apparently accepted that circumstance. I don’t think he would view it in the nature of a “mistake”. He strikes me as a man of deep religious belief and moral conviction, and if winning votes means he has to turn his back on people who have been his loyal friends and supporters, I suspect he will accept the lost of those votes.
