I don’t get it. If we were talking about legislators who are voted into office, this sort of thing makes sense. But this kind of court is not run on public opinion. The Judiciary is not supposed to be influenced in any way by public opinion. Do people really want the courts to be places where “voters” can “lobby” judges for a decision? ... LOL ...
That would work for me just fine.

These vigils are intended to "lobby" God, not men.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16
Ultimately the decision will hinge on whether or not God intervenes. That is why it is imperative that people get together and hold prayer vigils for this issue.
BTW if you don't believe the Supreme Court is run on public opinion, you haven't studied the Supreme Court's history. They pretend to base their opinions on the Constitution and Stare Decisis, but in the end, they stick their fingers into the air and try to see which way the wind is blowing.
We have become a nation of the blind leading the blind.
I don’t think these thousands of people are praying to SCOTUS. and I’m sure they don’t consider prayer “lobbying”.
Having said that, how could any intellectually honest person think that the 14th Amendment ever intended to make gay marriage a civil right?
