By observation: she wasn’t cuffed when she got slammed, but was apparently too drunk to catch herself when she went down.

If she had been cuffed, I’d be calling for ‘sensitivity training’ for the cop.

The TV report in the link was fair enough....I think more fair than the secondhand clickcrap from Huffpo.

The office instead of using his strength to cuff her chose to slam her on the ground?

That is the way it is done now. One , upon them making contact with you, either prostrates themselves upon the ground in front of their master[s], or one is prostrated.

It is the, "What gives you the idea that, you, a peon, peasant, slave are equal to a member of the ruling class?" "Your sole purpose here is to support us with your labor and tax money. And should we desire it, provide entertainment for us. Get this bullshit notion that you are our equals out of your head now!"

He slammed her head into the ground so he could cuff her.

This woman was clearly intoxicated. She was putting her daughter at risk and was about to put her (and whoever they might have crashed into) at risk again.

40% of fatal traffic accidents involve intoxicated drivers. The majority are not intoxicated.

This alarming statistic shows that 60% drive like drunks when sober.

If a drunk causes a crash throw the book at them. Until then, leave them be.

I wouldn’t say that in person in front of most decent folks.

It's time for the people and the states to redefine "resisting arrest".

This should be defined only as "fleeing". In other words the only way you can be charged with "resisting arrest" is if you are actually running away.

I'm sure I'm not the only one sick and tired of this charge being used as an excuse to charge anyone and facilitate abusive behavior from police.

ANYTIME, I see the charge of resisting arrest I immediately and correctly assume, dirty cop and unjustified arrest. This stands until proven otherwise, which is almost never the case.

Apparently Round Rock police have a pattern of this kind of behavior.

Cry me a river. I saw the video, and the cop appeared to be acting professionally. The woman took a hard fall, but only because she was resisting being handcuffed. If there had been 2 cops there, she could have been more gently lowered to the ground for handcuffing, but that was not the case.

Whatever happened to handcuffing people and placing them in the back seat of the cruiser?

It appears that the new protocol is beating the carp out of them then placing them in the back of the ambulance.

How in the world did you come to the conclusion that this is acting professionally? He immediately escalated the situation rather than trying to get some control. There was also a 6 yr old that was not being considered. He should have made sure she was in a safe place before proceeding with the adult. What would have happened if the little girl had run up on his hip with his gun while he was cuffing the mother?

******

The officer was trying his best to make a lawful but resisted arrest. How was that “escalating the situation?” I sense a growing presumption that people have a right to resist a lawful arrest. And nothing bad happened to the 6-year old, except to find out what a drunk the mother was.

Yep, that cop’s a hero. He protected that little girl’s life by knocking her mother unconscious.

Resisting arrest = consequences.

When a person always goes to payback and revenge, and "consequences" as something for the police to administer to us on the streets, it is disturbing.

What kind of man slams a mother into the pavement for no real reason? To you, it is justified as teaching her a lesson. Do you really want the government to send those people among us, to abuse us?

You are the one calling for a dictator like police force to beat us into getting our mind right, whatever that means.
