Gee, I seem to recall that the same thing happened to John Ashcroft, the former Missouri senator who graciously yielded his seat after narrowly losing his re-election campaign to a dead man when a judge ordered the polls in St. Louis to stay open longer so that everybody could vote for a second or third time.
Anybody else remember that?

John Ashcroft’s final confirmation vote if I recall correctly was 75-25.
