Mike Huckabee has been staffing up for his likely presidential campaign, before an expected announcement in Hope, Arkansas, on May 5.
Sources familiar with the internal planning tell POLITICO that the Republican has decided on senior staff and their roles for a potential 2016 campaign.
This inner-circle includes three alumni of the former Arkansas governors 2008 presidential campaign, during which he won the Iowa caucuses and carried seven other states. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Huckabees daughter, would be campaign manager. Chip Saltsman, who was manager last time, returns as a senior adviser. Bob Wickers will stay in his role as pollster and media consultant.
Arkansas Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, the GOP operative and former congressman, will work as a senior political adviser on the potential campaign.
Jim Terry, who cut his teeth in California politics and has worked for the National Republican Congressional Committee, will be national political director.
Huckabee gave up his Fox News program in January and recently discontinued his regular radio commentaries. Hes gotten far less media attention than other candidates, but he continues to appear near the top of the pack in national polls. In 2012, he flirted with running but ultimately announced, on his Fox show in the spring of 2011, that he would not go through with it.
Also helping the Huckabee 2016 effort in communications roles are Alice Stewart and Hogan Gidley, both of whom worked on the 2008 Huckabee campaign and then for former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in 2012.

It does look as if we are heading for another circus like we saw in 2012 when the debate field was so large that the serious candidates couldn't get enough time to state their positions and define themselves.
“.......Cruz is the only one we should care about winning.”
The sooner more real conservatives realize that, the less bumpy the road to victory will be.
Ted Cruz is the only answer.
Yep! Time for the Republicans to throw all their support behind one candidate who embodies the GOP standard and pull together to beat Overthehillary.
and BTW that candidate is Ted Cruz.
Judas the Huckster wants his 30 pieces of silver reward from his masters in the GOPE. The GOPE is nothing if not predictable. Huckster running allowed the GOPE to push that douche bag McStain on us in 2008, so why not try it again.
Yep, and it has worked before. I wonder if Jim Dobson will also step up and declate that Ted Cruz "isn't a Christian", or some such recycled crap from 2008?
LOL...Thanks for adding that. I was just about to give you a sales pitch. ;>)
