Voters in Parma, Missouri voted in their first African-American female mayor.
Tyus Byrd will be sworn in as mayor on Tuesday evening, April 14, at the Parma Community Building.
According to Mayor Randall Ramsey, five out of six police officers resigned this week, effectively immediately.
Mayor Ramsey said the clerk and the waste water treatment plant supervisor also turned in resignation letters citing safety concerns.

Nope. They want it to look like some a’ them damn racist ‘publican good ol’ boys resigned rather than work with a black person. I’m guessing they had some kind of crooked sweetheart deal going on for more than a quarter century and wanted to get outa Dodge before the details came out.

Link to evidence of this?
Cape Girardeau is Rush Limbaugh’s home town and I think he still has family there. I wonder if he’s commented on this.
Do not have a link......i read several stories until one sentence in one paragraph confirmed my suspicions...
nobody with half a lick of brains that lives in a town of 700 quits a gravy train job unless......
Watched the News Story from the link-and then BING Mapped the Town [Due west of New Madrid].
Well-Looks like the possibility of some Payroll riders in the City-er-small town,PD?
Recommend a look at town on BING,[3D] or Google Maps-kind of adds some background to story-appears the folks got tired of former Mayor ignoring the abandoned buildings.
Read the comments, the chief was there for 37 years and the cops who quit all erased their hard drives. She ran on a “clean up the city “ platform. This is a case of rats fleeing a sinking ship, not racism. But the media knows that most people will see the headline and look no further.
She came in promising to clean house. Sounds like they are doing her work for her.
Of course, to figure out what is happening, you have to dig through a dozen stories from a dozen sources.
Small town with something over 700 population. Whites outnumber
blacks about 2 to 1. Probably a case of time to clean out the rats nest.
They may well indeed be rats, and maybe they’re not. I agree with you about the media hype. Last I heard, Lincoln had freed the slaves, these people aren’t required to stay in their job. I’d be happy with the clean deck were I the new mayor.
If it is a die-hard Democrat area [and odds are it is given the area’s southern cotton-growing history] chances are they’re all Democrats and their parents and grandparents and ancestors back to the Civil War and before are or were Democrats, because no Republican will bother- without being able to peel some Democrat voters from the entrenched Democrats in office; it’s a waste of time and effort that could more profitably be spent on one’s own business. A true Republican will get all the Republican votes if there are any to be had, but no Democrats will break family tradition to cross over to vote for a true Republican.
But an outsider Democrat, who cannot succeed in the Democratic primary against an old entrenched rat because only Democrats can vote in it, and so cannot get on the ballot in the general election later, can at least get onto the ballot in the general election by declaring as if Republican in the primary. Such a candidate easily wins the Republican primary because the spot is unopposed- and can probably win by simply voting for themselves. Then they get on the ballot in the general election and get to keep the Democrat supporters they already who know what they candidates are really Democrats, plus may pull independents and also Republican straight ticket voters who don’t realize they’re voting for a stealth Democrat. It’s the only way for an outsider to dislodge an entrenched Democrat who has heavy support.
This is why the GOP really needs to find ways to keep people from using the Republican primary to carry on Democrat politics and persuade some Republican to at least fill out the papers so that any stealth Dem is at least opposed.
Party affiliation doesn’t mean anything if you don’t know the locality very well and know if there are stealth candidates lying about their true party loyalty.
