Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a likely 2016 GOP presidential candidate, pledged to protect American workers from the economic effects, not only of illegal immigration but also of a massive increase in legal immigration.
During an interview with Glenn Beck, Walker became the first declared or potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate to stake out a position on immigration fully in line with that of Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest chairman Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL). He also noted that he has been working with Chairman Sessions on the issue to learn more about it.
Walker is now the only potential or declared GOP presidential candidate to discuss the negative effects of a massive increase in legal immigration on American workers:
In terms of legal immigration, how we need to approach that going forward is sayingthe next president and the next congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system thats based on, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages, because the more Ive talked to folks, Ive talked to Senator Sessions and others out therebut it is a fundamentally lost issue by many in elected positions todayis what is this doing for American workers looking for jobs, what is this doing to wages, and we need to have that be at the forefront of our discussion going forward.
Walker discussed how in the past he did support amnesty, but says he doesnt anymore, because he has learned more about the issue. That shows him to be one of the most open-minded GOP candidates on such matters.

Walker is favored and supported by the Koch bros and they are proponents of immigration of any sort.
Walker, being of a northern state, has absolutely no idea what the illegal aliens are doing to this country. He needs to come on down to Texas and I can show him what it looks like. Purple and yellow house trailers with blankets for doors and 3 families living in it. Uninsured drivers with no license. No speaka ainglish. Welfare kings and queens working off the record for cash that gets sent back to Mexico. The hospital waiting rooms packed with whole families, hours to wait if you really need attention.
You’re welcome and thank >you<. One thing to add would be his threat to our security. Actually he has put our very lives at stake.
none of the other candidates nor ANY politician even have had the balls to say anything about reducing legal immigration , only One Scott Walker. thats a leader
Scott Walker’s record of passing many conservative laws while defeating democrats in the process is unmatched in history and I and others listed some of his accomplishments on this thread. His record, actions and conservative results show who Scott Walker is not who supports him or any other ridiculous assumptions
Scott Walker has flipped on amnesty and Ted Cruz supports increasing H-1B visas to bring in more high tech workers from overseas. Both of them are inconsistent and wobbly on the whole immigration issue, but they’re the two best candidates in the GOP field. If both Walker and Cruz support the strong stand that Jeff Sessions has taken then I have no problem voting for either one of them. You Cruzers and Walkerites need to stop pointing fingers and saying your man is better on immigration than the other, and realize both your candidates are equally bad on this issue.
"So the liberal news media smears him with lies and others oh this forum do the liberal news medias job by parroting the lies."
I read much too often the comments that say, "He has flipped over to a strong stand on immigration but, how do we know he won't flip back? I can never trust him." I am very wary of such comments. How do we know these are not moles set to weaken our Conservative candidates by exaggerating something that offends Conservatives? I often read such comments on Sarah Palin threads. When I read them, they fail the smell test and come off fishy. I think it is a pretty good trick for Lefties to play this game for a good laugh.
Cruz/Walker Walker/Cruz.
Our best hope to actually win AND begin to change the evils done in the past six years.
Absolutely. I can’t see any other ticket other than those two. I don’t want to see Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and especially Jeb Bush anywhere near that ticket.
none of the other candidates nor ANY politician even have had the balls to say anything about reducing legal immigration , only One Scott Walker. thats a leader
Scott Walkers record of passing many conservative laws while defeating democrats in the process is unmatched in history and I and others listed some of his accomplishments on this thread. His record, actions and conservative results show who Scott Walker not what the liberal news media says . Walker’s done nothing to help illegals so your liberal media smears are just hit jobs to help your cause socialism
Money talks bubba, just ask the CofC and Koch’s. I will wait and see what shakes out in the future. Too early to tell exactly especially since he just went to Cali and had private talks with CofC people with no reporters. That alone makes me suspect.
I have been a big fan of his in years past, however; this immigration thing is too big for me to forego for a bag of hot campaign air. I live in this mess and all my inlaws are yankee’s, they are oblivious to what immigration is really about. It just hasn’t hit there yet.
Scott Walker's record of passing conservative laws as I and others listed on this thread is the best in history. So these liberal/democrat moles hope to negate all these spectatular results with some smears and lies against Scott walker and it works on many . It's ridiculous that many buy some article or post and let that negate Walker's record which they probably don't even take the time to research.
Here is a clue : read the article that is the subject on this thread. Scott walker is against legal and illegal immigration to protect American workers. what about that don’t you get. none of the other candidates nor ANY politician even have had the balls to say anything about reducing legal immigration , only One Scott Walker. thats a leader
I chide the Cruzers (I personally prefer Cruz at the top of the ticket) who bitch on every Walker thread. I chide the Walkerites who bitch on the Cruz threads.
We have two great candidates, both conservative, both tried by fire, both head and shoulders over every candidate since Reagan.
I’m not trying to start a war between the Cruz and Walker supporters. I just wanted to make the point both of them have been less than consistent on immigration/amnesty, and I think that has to be admitted here. That said, I have no problem supporting either one of these guys to be our next president.
Don’t call me a “Walkerite”. Personally, I want to keep him in Madison as our Governor because he’s done such a fine job. But, I’m willing to share if that is how the cookie crumbles.
I just manage the Wisconsin interest ping list, and everybody seems to be interested in what our Governor is going to do next. Just reporting on what others are saying. Not pushing.
You pay attention bubba, what do you not understand that Walker is a politician, now a professional politician. He has absolutely no record on immigration and as a professional politician I do not trust him more than I do Putin.
Now go away, I am thru with you.
One of them is going to win this thing, unless there is a total melt down from one of them or between them because of their supporters. If that happens, then Jeb steps in.
My 2 cents.
I don't post to you but to refute your lies so others who read this and have sense see that your smears against Scot Walker are just liberal media lies
Amen. We’ll leave it at that.
Read the article, FGS. He was in Texas just LAST week touring the border with your Governor. He writes about it in this article and comments how it has influenced his opinion on the matter.
It's true that we don't have quite the problem of illegal immigration in WI, but we do have our share. They filter up here from Chicago. I remember an article in our local paper a couple of years ago where they described the men of a particular village who come to Milwaukee to work every year and return home for a certain festival. The women and children stay in Mexico. Back and forth across the border without any problem.
This is a good start.
Now bring back jobs to America.
We import (far) too much stuff. More every year. Bring back jobs to America, and hire Americans to do the jobs here.
